Tyrolean Painted Wardrobe Technical information: Epoch: early 19th century Provenance: Tyrol Essence: Spruce Height: 188 cm Width: 136 cm (160 cm at the frames) Depth: 50 cm (60 cm at the frames) Description: Tyrolean painted cabinet made of fir wood, datable to around 1820. The frame has a rectangular body with bevels, set on turned front and back feet, with a slightly projecting base and molded upper cyma, also projecting from the sides. The front is punctuated by two hinged doors, each divided into squared panels. Within the panels are painted stylized floral compositions that develop from decorative vases, following a symmetrical, vertical pattern. The motifs, made in tempera, employ a traditional palette with a blue background, red and green frames, and polychrome inserts in the floral details. Panel frames and decorative bands feature undulating and phytomorphic motifs, traced with continuous and regular markings. The hardware is made of wrought iron: the hinges are exposed, attached directly to the doors, while the interior lock has a shaped plate and original mechanism, visible in the detail images. The sides are left exposed and decorated with a faux wavy wood finish, obtained by painting, which simulates the grain pattern. The side decoration is framed by painted bands that echo the colors and patterns of the front, creating visual continuity. The interior is organized as a single compartment and can be customized according to the intended use. Interventions carried out on all our furniture: - Structural restoration: restoring small missing parts, closing any cracks on the back, consolidating deteriorated areas, checking and repairing hardware. - Thorough woodworm treatment. - Interior cleaning and sanitizing. - Exterior finishing with natural beeswax. - Interior finishing with shellac, a natural alcohol-based varnish. Customization: Upon request, it is possible to agree on: - the degree of restoration desired; - the customization of the interior (addition of hanging poles, shelves, dividers, etc.).
