Lacquered Biedermeier Coffee Table, ca. 1815 Code: L11 Age: circa 1815 Provenance: Austria Essence: Spruce Height: 75 cm Width: 65 cm Depth: 35 cm Description: Biedermeier lacquered wood coffee table, c. 1815, enriched with lacquerwork made in a later period. The cabinet features a top. Constructed with slender proportions and small dimensions, the cabinet features a slightly shaped rectangular top, a front drawer, and a lower connecting shelf. The legs are wavy, tapered and slightly curved, an element that visually lightens the structure. The surface is treated with a light gray tone lacquer finish. The natural wear of the finish, visible along edges, corners and contact surfaces, lets the underlying wood stand out. The cabinet lends itself to use as a side table or small desk, maintaining a discreet and functional presence within rooms furnished with historical elements. Interventions carried out on all our furniture: - Structural restoration: restoring small missing parts, closing any cracks on the backrest, consolidating deteriorated areas, checking and repairing hardware. - Thorough woodworm treatment. - Interior cleaning and sanitizing. - Exterior finishing with natural beeswax. - Interior finishing with shellac, a natural alcohol-based varnish.
