Marcelliano Canciani (1873-1953) Italian painter active between the late 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. Originally from the Turin area, he devoted much of his production to the Alpine landscape, with particular attention to the territories of the eastern arc. His painting is characterized by a direct, observational naturalism, devoid of rhetorical accents, and by an atmospheric rendering that favors clear light conditions and a meticulous description of mountain morphology. He worked in a transitional period between late naturalism and early modern orientations, yet maintained a traditional approach focused on the immediate perception of the landscape.
