Description and details
The Three Peaks of Lavaredo The Three Peaks of Lavaredo constitute a central subject in Alpine landscape painting, recognizable by its vertical contours and dolomite rock surfaces. The painting depicts the massif through a compact textural layering and a controlled use of ochre and brown tones. Technical information: epoch: 1930s (dated 1939) Provenance: Austria Author: Wolfer Technique: oil on panel Work size: 50 x 60 cm Description: Oil painting on panel depicting the Three Peaks of Lavaredo, with particular attention to the vertical rocky profiles and color variations of the Dolomite surfaces. The forms emerge from a compact pictorial layering, articulated in textural passages that highlight the contrasts between the shaded and illuminated areas. The base of the composition is occupied by a rocky plateau rendered through ochre and brown tones, with modeling achieved through overlapping brushstrokes. The peaks develop upward and are treated with a range of browns and yellows, while the uniform, clear sky frames the vertical structure of the mountain range. The author's signature with date appears at lower right. Available with the 7-cm antique fir wood frame, custom-made in our restoration workshop.
