Description and details

Small, but important light blue Sevres porcelain bowl typical of French manufacture, from the second half of the 18th century. It has a sky-blue background decorated with gold leaf volutes, with a central, decorated, medallion-like part depicting landscape scenes of gardens with perimeter walls and marble vases , with in the foreground minutely painted bouquets of flowers in bright, vivid colors on both the front and back of the bowl. The bowl is mounted on a structure made entirely of the highest quality gilt bronze. Base all worked with motifs of shells, scrolls and curls, with, seated at the four corners, female figures holding the cup with festoon-like decorations of fabric on the front and back and floral on the two sides. In the upper part of the cup gilt bronze decoration all worked and pierced in floral motif with at the sides the two handles of the socket depicting two winged playing putti. The bowl is marked on the underside with the classic mark that distinguishes sevres porcelain the two crossed L's with inside it the letter "m" indicating its date 1765 and below the mark we find the letter "D" followed by four dots identifying the decorator . From some research we have done we have found that the decorator in question should be CHARLES-NICOLAS DODIN active between 1754-1803, a famous miniature painter of the Sevres manufactory for his creations with fine pictorial details, and signed with letter D followed by dots or letter K.
