Immaculate Conception with angels

Oil painting on canvas depicting the Immaculate Conception, with the Virgin depicted according to traditional iconography: standing on a cloud, with her hands crossed on her chest and looking toward the viewer. Arranged around her are numerous angel faces in the clouds. The figure of the Madonna is wrapped in a broad blue mantle that falls diagonally and a light-colored robe, in keeping with Counter-Reformation canons. The painting has a simple solid wood frame that is not coeval and shows obvious signs of craquelure across the surface, testifying to its antiquity.
