Large cast iron pesto, made in Italy in the second half of the 19th century. The body, cast entirely in cast iron, has a compact shape with horizontal moldings and curly side handles, characteristic of 19th-century production. The original pestle, also made of cast iron, completes the piece. This type of artifact was used to crush spices, herbs or grains. Today it can be used as a decorative element for rustic settings, period kitchens, gardens or spaces dedicated to traditional craftsmanship. The object is heavy and stable, with original patina and traces of use consistent with its age.
