Description and details
Fine early 18th-century devotional painting depicting the Immaculate Conception. The Virgin, wrapped in a blue mantle, is depicted praying as she ascends through the clouds, accompanied by cherubim and the dove of the Holy Spirit, the symbol of immaculate purity. Work created in oil on canvas, reinteled at a later date. The medium format and delicate luministic rendering make it a typical example of Baroque sacred painting. The original coeval gilt frame shows an antique patina with natural signs of time. The painting is in good overall condition, with minor wear and craquelure consistent with age. Recommended light cleaning to enhance its original colors.
