This pair of footwear corresponds to traditional Ottoman slippers or slippers from the Ottoman Empire, dating mainly from between the 19th century. These historic artifacts were usually worn by high society women within the home or at important receptions and ball parties. The upper is made of velvet (commonly burgundy, purple or red-purple). Metallic embroidery: The front features very dense embossed embroidery done by hand with gold-colored metallic threads , forming traditional floral motifs centered on a large central bud or rosette. Fabric laces: At the back or around the ankle are ribbons of light-colored fabric (silk or cotton) that were used to secure the shoe to the foot. The soles of these antiques are made of leather accompanied by small shaped wooden heels .
