Beautiful glass shrine with saint CHIARA D'ASSISI and crucifix with christ and saintFrancesco in wax,beautiful composition of the nineteenth century i very good condition only with small missing fingers of the saint,origin italy- mis. h.40 cm-l.37 cm-p.12 cm antique handcrafted shrine or reliquary containing a statue of St. Clare of Assisi and a crucifix. with St. Francis: The figure wears a brown habit with a cord around the waist and a black veil, typical elements of the habit of Poor Clare nuns, the order founded by St. Clare. Context: St. Clare of Assisi (1193-1253) was an early follower of St. Francis of Assisi and founded the Order of Poor Ladies, known today as the Order of St. Clare or Poor Clares. Her life was dedicated to prayer and evangelical poverty. St. Rita is depicted wearing the black habit of Augustinian nuns. The presence of roses or dried flowers inside the shrine is a reference to her best-known symbol, the rose, These objects were often used in the homes of believers as a reference point for prayer and devotion.
