Hungary, mid-20th centuryFinely hand-painted white porcelain chocolate bowl, a production of the famous Herend Manufacture, made in the mid-20th century.The body features a naturalistic decoration with polychrome birds resting on flowering branches, embellished with multicolored butterflies scattered over the surface. The subject matter, typical of the Herend repertoire inspired by the Central European tradition, is executed with great pictorial precision and vivid colors.The shaped spout and elegantly curved handle are embellished with hand-applied threading and gold motifs. The domed lid is surmounted by a raised floral bud-shaped socket, a distinctive and decorative element, also hand-painted.
