Giovanni Battista Piranesi. Trophies of Octavian Augustus. 1753 Large etching depicting one of a pair of marble Roman military trophies excavated from the Aqua Julia nymphaeum and set up on the Capitol terrace by Pope Sixtus V in 1590. Piranesi argued for an attribution to Augustus in commemoration of the Battle of Actium.
