Description and details
Carved wooden candlestick, form inspired by classical vases with scrolled side handles and turned foot. Polychrome surface in shades of ivory and gold, with partly worn mission gilding. The top has a central cavity, probably intended to accommodate a metal candle holder, now missing. Traces of wax and signs of use confirm its original use as an ornamental candlestick, perhaps part of an altar or console set. The decorative motifs of pods, side scrolls, and the balance of proportions place it in the neoclassical taste of the transition between the 18th and 19th centuries, typical of liturgical or palace furnishings.
