Description and details
The object is an antique chest or casket made of wood covered in leather and decorated with gold geometric motifs. These types of containers, often referred to as caskets or portable chests, were used to store important documents, valuables, or as small travel trunks. Materials: Internal structure in wood (fir) with a dark leather exterior. It features a central brass handle on top for carrying and a front mortise lock, typical of antique artisanal craftsmanship. The box is intact in all its parts, but the key is missing. Dated to the late 17th to early 18th century; of Italian origin. Dimensions: Width 35 cm – Height 13 cm – Depth 20 cm
