Description and details
AVEM - MURANO GLASS ART Pulegoso vase white blown glass with hot applications h. cm. 29 Murano, 1934-1935 The vase is presented in an ovoid form-with a broad, generous belly that gradually narrows toward a short cylindrical neck-characterized by a profile of great volumetric completeness, fully in keeping with the formal canons of Murano art glass of the 1930s. Two symmetrical applications with lobed leaf elements, arranged on the sides of the shoulder, interrupt the continuity of the surface with a decorative motif of understated elegance, recalling in their indented articulation the naturalistic imagery that runs through much of the ornamental production of the period. The base is circular and flattened, with a toric profile that provides stability to the potbellied silhouette. The entire surface is treated with the pulegoso technique: the opalescent white glass-a lattimo of great chromatic purity-is traversed by a homogeneous distribution of small and medium-sized air bubbles, which gives the glassy mass a grainy, opaque appearance, far from the transparency of conventional crystal. In grazing light, the surface responds with a series of pearlescent and iridescent reflections that vary as the angle changes, creating a textural effect of extraordinary sensory quality. The white is not uniform but vivid, modulated by the presence of the aerial inclusions that capture and diffuse light discontinuously.
