Carved wooden wall case decorated with a marbled pattern. Triangular in shape, it has a red fabric background sprinkled with small golden stars. Its style and decoration recall its origins in Marche, Italy, in the 18th century, where it was used to display religious or decorative objects. Structure: Tapered triangular shape. Upper decoration: The top is ornamented with a pediment carved with Baroque volutes. Finish: The outer surface has a marbled appearance, a common technique in the 18th century in the decorative arts for embellishing wood. Interior: The red lining with gold stars could indicate a devotional function (containing a small statue or icon) or purely ornamental. The cabinet is entirely original, including the lacquering.
