A Neo-Renaissance-style (or "cassetta"-style) picture frame, made in Italy between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This frame is made of carved wood with a finish of pure gold leaf gilding. It features a central band decorated with “Greek” motifs or blue/black floral elements on a gold background, complemented by scalloped or twisted ribbon borders. Use: They were originally designed both as frames for classical paintings and as decorative wall mirrors.
