Description and details
This splendid pair of Italian wall sconces from the first half of the 19th century is a refined example of period lighting, featuring carved, lacquered, and gilded wooden elements. The sconces have sculpted wooden arms with a two-tone finish and decorative details executed in gold leaf. They come complete with shield-shaped lampshades (or “ventoline”) in light-colored fabric, finished with visible decorative stitching around the edges. Originally designed as wall sconces or candelabra, these lamps were often used to flank mirrors above fireplaces or to illuminate elegant period interiors. Dimensions: H 80 cm – H (without shade) 53 cm – W 47 cm – D 46 cm
