It immediately became a reference point for woodworking: materials of all kinds, Art Nouveau designs wonderful for their precision and richness, woodworking tools. What's more, an innovation: all the samples are illustrated on catalogs, and the public is facilitated in their choice and purchase. Amati's name becomes established: the fretwork designs (in particular, the most beautiful ornaments) are even requested as models in the gold ornament schools in Valenza Po, province of Alessandria, one of Italy's main goldsmithing districts. They are still in use today. Meanwhile, the Royal House of Savoy issued two diplomas to Carlo Amati, allowing him to display the royal frieze on the sign. THE BOMBINGS, PLYWOOD CUTOUTS, EXPORTING In the early 1900s the brand expanded: there were dealers in every city in Italy, and exports to Argentina and Syria began, thanks to some Turin merchants. In the 1930s, as a result of the Great Depression, Amati is forced to add "fine arts" items to its fretwork: famous painters from Turin become its regular customers. During World War II, a large part of the warehouse was displaced to the Asti area: plywood was used in the replacement of glass broken during the bombing, but with the scraps one got by with the production of objects in fretwork. There is no rope to tie packages: parachute slings are used as a substitute.
