Description and details
Elegant pair of Neo-Renaissance side tables dating from the second half of the 19th century, made of finely carved wood in the round and finished with original dark patina. At first glance, the slender form and central stem might recall that of monumental candlesticks; however, the complete carving on all sides, devoid of unfinished parts, confirms that these are artifacts that originated as side tables and not reconverted elements. This feature clearly distinguishes them from traditional church candlesticks, which are usually carved only frontally or on visible sides. The circular top rests on a turned and richly carved stem, which terminates in a trefoil base with foliate motifs and scrolls, typical of the nineteenth-century neo-Renaissance taste. The ensemble is harmonious, balanced and has a strong decorative presence.Ideal as side tables, supports for sculptures, vases or lamps, or as decorative elements of great character in classical or eclectic settings.Period: Second half of the 19th centuryStyle: Neo-RenaissanceMaterial: Carved woodFinish: Original dark patinaHeight: cm 69.5Top diameter: cm 29.5Condition: Good overall condition, with normal signs of time consistent with age
