Description and details
Interesting pair of small Ligurian mirrors from the neoclassical period, made in Genoa toward the end of the 18th century. These were originally elements from cantaglorie or decorative apparatuses of ecclesiastical furnishings, later adapted into mirrors. The frames are made of carved, lacquered and partially gilded wood, with the typical teal lacquering that was very common in late 18th-century Genoese production. On the sides are ornamental elements carved with plant and leaf motifs, which lend movement and character to the whole. The mirrors show the natural oxidation of time, an element that testifies to the authenticity and antiquity of the objects.Small decorative objects of great charm, ideal for enriching a wall or included in a composition of antique mirrors.Age: late 18th centuryProvenance: Genoa, LiguriaMaterial: carved, lacquered and gilded woodMeasurements:Height 25 cmWidth 17 cm
