Description and details
Pair of large polychrome Chinese porcelain lamps An elegant and decorative pair of large lamps made from two Chinese porcelain vases, presumably dating from the late 19th to the early 20th century. The vases feature rich polychrome decoration depicting scenes animated by warriors on horseback, figures in traditional attire, banners, and landscapes, rendered in a vibrant color palette. Of particular interest is the decoration imitating ancient bronze, found in the ornamental bands and the sculpted relief elements, which creates a refined contrast with the polychrome figurative scenes. Both vases bear a mark in Chinese characters on the bottom. The vases were later converted into lamps, though they were not drilled. The electrical wiring is, in fact, installed in a reversible manner, allowing them to be restored to their original function as vases if desired. Both lamps are in working condition and come complete with large, period-style pleated lampshades, which show some stains and normal signs of aging. A pair with remarkable decorative presence, particularly suited to classical settings, living rooms, and prestigious interior designs. Dimensions: - Total height with lampshade: 81 cm - Height of vases: 46.5 cm - Maximum diameter of vases: approximately 22 cm - Maximum diameter of lampshades: 55 cm Origin: China Period: Late 19th – early 20th century (stylistic attribution)
