Description and details
A clear, mouth-blown glass vase with a slender shape with a rounded foot, cylindrical body, and flared, wavy mouthpiece. The surface features fine cold-gold decoration with neoclassical motifs, including a trophy with a laurel band and garland, and a wheel-engraved floral frieze on the top. The decoration shows a direct influence of the Empire aesthetic, characterized by the celebration of classicism. The object, due to the quality of workmanship and the type of decoration, can be traced to a late 19th-century production, probably intended for bourgeois or aristocratic furnishings. Slight imperfections in the glass and gilding are consistent with period craftsmanship.
