Description and details
Majestic, richly decorated gilt bronze mantel clock with a base decorated with plant motifs, masks, winged heads, and cartouches in the Rococo style. The upper part is dominated by a sculptural scene with a seated allegorical female figure, perhaps a personification of abundance or spring, surrounded by two putti in a playful attitude. One of the putti holds a bow and may recall the iconography of Cupid. The circular enamel dial has Roman numerals on a white plate and central relief decoration with floral motifs, set in a frame with heads and scrolls. The movement, probably a pendulum with chime, is set in a sumptuous structure designed for prestigious settings.
