Description and details

Extendable dining table in English mahogany, late 19th century (circa 1880–1900) An elegant, extendable oval dining table crafted from high-quality solid English mahogany, made in England during the late Victorian period. The oval tabletop features shaped, slightly curved edges and a beautiful, warm, deep patina typical of mahogany that is over 130 years old. The frame rests on four sturdy, well-proportioned turned legs with reeded columns, ending in decorative spherical feet. The original crank-operated extending mechanism (with a turned wooden crank) is in perfect working order and allows for the insertion of one or more extension leaves, transforming the table from a compact size for everyday use into a spacious dining table seating 8–10 guests. It still features its original period telescoping runners and bears the marks of age and use that enhance its authenticity and antique charm, without compromising its structural integrity. A fine classic piece of English antiques, ideal for dining rooms with character or for those who appreciate authentic Victorian furniture.
