Oil painting on canvas with carved gilded wood frame-Original work by painter Arturo Faldi-Painting gentleman in uniform- Epoch second half of 19th century-measure frame- 90x700 Arturo Faldi ( Florence 1856-1911) Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, where he had Giovanni Muzzioli and Michele Gordigiani as his teachers.Until 1880 he worked on painting of the historical-mythological genre. In 1881, with La trecciaiuola, he moved away from this genre to move closer to the style of the Macchiaioli.Following the success of the painting, exhibited under the title Paysanne d'Italie at the Paris Salon, he continued to focus on realistic subjects, often having the relationship between peasant activity and nature as his favorite theme. Two of his paintings had the honor of being purchased by King Umberto I: Honeymoon, donated to the Galleria civica d'arte moderna e contemporanea in Turin, and God Accompany Them, donated to the Galleria nazionale d'arte moderna e contemporanea in Rome.Today in the study of the First President of the Court of Cassation. In the last phase of his life he was a teacher and president of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence.
