Description and details
Elegant 17th-century Tuscan frame in carved and gilded wood, characterized by a refined decoration with stylized leaves on the inner edge and an outer band finely worked with a dotted motif and molded profiles. The frame has a typical 17th-century architectural setting, with important depth and box profile, particularly suited to accommodate antique paintings on canvas or panel. As visible from examination of the back frame, the frame was reduced in later times to fit a smaller work. This intervention, however, does not compromise its decorative charm or historical legibility. It retains a pleasing antique gilding with signs of use and wear compatible with its age.External measurements: 98 x 118 cmLight: 68.5 x 90 cmBattuta: 1.8 cmFrame width: 13.8 cmThickness: 9 cmAn important 17th-century Tuscan decorative frame, ideal for enhancing antique paintings and collections of Italian art.
