An 18th-century statuary marble head depicting Artemis, the Greek goddess of hunting, the moon, and the wild. The goddess is depicted with an oval face, almond-shaped eyes, full lips, and hair reminiscent of 4th-century B.C. models.  Artemis was a highly revered deity in ancient Greece; in fact, her temple in Ephesus, with its enormous size and lavish decorations, was considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
