Description and details
Oil painting on canvas depicting a view of Venice. Signed E. Zeno. 44x39 cm. Canvas: 32 x 27 cm. Zeno is the pseudonym of Eugenio Bonivento (1880–1956), an Italian painter best known for his views of the lagoon and the Venetian countryside. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, where he was a student of Guglielmo Ciardi, and interpreted the painting of the 18th-century Venetian masters with a modern style, characterized by a “rich and dynamic” brushstroke and the use of light. His works are on display in galleries such as the Gallery of Modern Art in Milan and the International Gallery of Modern Art in Venice.
