Description and details

The work illustrates an episode from the book of Exodus : Moses after fleeing Egypt arrives at a well in the territory of Madiaj . There he intervenes to defend the seven daughters of Jetro ( the priest of Midian ) from the local shepherds who were preventing them from watering their flocks . In the painting Moses is seen making a decisive gesture to help the young girls and allow their sheep to drink at the well French school of the 18th century.
