Description and details
Gino Romiti – Landscape at Sunset – Oil on hardboard A striking oil painting on hardboard by the Livorno-based painter Gino Romiti (1881–1967), depicting a lakeside landscape at sunset. The composition features a group of trees in the foreground, whose dark silhouettes stand out against a sky streaked with broad clouds in delicate shades of pink, blue, and purple. The atmospheric rendering is particularly refined, achieved through a harmonious color palette and concise, vibrant brushwork. The rosy reflections on the water and the backlit vegetation lend the scene a poetic and serene atmosphere. The work attests to the landscape sensibility of Gino Romiti, a leading figure in the Livorno school of painting, in which the Macchiaioli tradition is revitalized through a personal interpretation of light and color. The painting is signed in the lower right corner. It is presented in a beautiful gilded wooden frame, richly molded and decorated, with a wide light-colored inner border. Technique: oil on faesite. Dimensions of the painting: 30 × 40 cm. Period: first half of the 20th century.
