Description and details
Enrico Paulucci (1901–1999) – Seascape with Boats Oil on canvas – 20th-century Italian painting A beautiful and vibrant oil painting on canvas by the artist Enrico Paulucci (1901–1999), a leading figure in 20th-century Italian painting and a key figure in the Turin art scene. The work depicts an evocative seascape with boats on the beach, rendered through a personal painterly style characterized by marked expressive freedom, simplified forms, and a particularly intense and luminous use of color. The composition is dominated by the contrast between the deep blue of the sea and the warm tones of the sky, enlivened by shades of pink, orange, and red. In the foreground, the boats are rendered through simple forms and vibrant blocks of color, creating a composition of great immediacy and decorative power. Particularly interesting is the relationship between the figurative elements and their almost abstract interpretation, through which Paulucci transforms a simple seascape into a composition of remarkable modernity and chromatic balance. Enrico Paulucci, born in Genoa in 1901 and artistically connected to Turin, was among the founders, in 1929, of the famous Turin Group of Six, alongside Gigi Chessa, Nicola Galante, Carlo Levi, Francesco Menzio, and Jessie Boswell. The group contributed significantly to the renewal of 20th-century Italian painting. The painting is signed in the lower right corner and is presented in a large gilded frame with a fabric-covered mat.
