Description and details
An interesting pair of watercolors and pencil drawings on paper by Amos Nattini (1892–1985), mounted together in a single elegant gilded frame with a red velvet mat.The first watercolor depicts an allegorical female figure, elegantly draped and accompanied by books, an inkwell with a pen, and a globe—attributes that evoke the world of scholarship, knowledge, and culture. The second depicts a craftsman at his workbench, surrounded by his tools, including a hammer, vise, and other implements. The figure, rendered with vigorous brushwork, stands as a striking celebration of manual labor and artisanal skill. Both works are characterized by confident brushwork and a refined use of monochromatic tones, achieved through light glazes and chiaroscuro contrasts. Placed side by side in the same frame, they seem to create an interesting dialogue between intellectual and manual labor, culture and craftsmanship. The composition is completed by a plaque bearing the artist’s name, “Amos Nattini 1892–1985.” Dimensions: Frame: 41 × 20 cm; Each watercolor: 13 × 9 cm; Date: first half of the 20th century.
